Wednesday September 29, 8:06 am Eastern Time Company Press Release ProNetLink.com Chairman Glenn Zagoren to Join United States Secretary of Commerce William Daley On Trade Mission to the Middle East Mission to Advance Business Interests of Mission Members and Encourage Continued Economic Reforms in the Middle East NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999-- ProNetLink.com (OTC BB:PNLK), the first Global Trade Internetwork, has announced that company Chairman Glenn Zagoren has been invited to participate in a Department of Commerce Trade Mission to the Middle East in October. The mission will be led by United States Secretary of Commerce William Daley and will include meetings with heads of state and visits to government agencies and major business associations. Mission delegates will also participate in major trade conferences in Israel, Egypt, Gaza/West Bank, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The focus of the mission as defined by the Department of Commerce will be the development of international commercial opportunities in response to the recent liberalization of the region's economies and the privatization of key industry sectors. The mission will also demonstrate a high level of U.S. Government and private sector interest in participating in the economic growth of the Middle East, encouraging the governments of the region to move quickly into the global market economy.
''We are going to the Middle East to expand our commercial ties as well as support, through trade and investment, regional economic growth that is so critical to sustaining peace,'' commented Secretary Daley. ''The high interest among American businesses in participating in these trade missions reflects the tremendous potential they see for commercial opportunities in the region in the 21st century.''
Only 15 senior business executives have been invited by the Department of Commerce to join the delegation. Also participating in the mission will be James K. Brewington, Group President of Lucent Technologies, Gerald W. Lukomski, Corporate Vice President & Director of Motorola, Oubay Atassi, Vice President of Nortel Networks, Per Wold-Olsen, President of Merck & Co., Inc. and Richard Bergsieker, Senior Vice President of Enron Corporation.
''I am honored and excited to be a part of Secretary Daley's Trade Mission to the Middle East,'' commented Mr. Zagoren. ''Considering the recent economic and political reforms in the Middle East, this mission represents a phenomenal opportunity for the development of international trade in the region. The Middle East is an important world market and I look forward to working with government and business leaders to develop a program that ProNetLink.com can implement to increase Internet capability, e-commerce and trade throughout the region.''
Secretary Daley's mission to the Middle East will advance specific business interests of the mission members by introducing them to key, host government decision-making officials and to potential business partners. Companies participating in the mission who are already established in the region will increase their visibility, and new-to-market firms will be able to gain a foothold in the critical Middle Eastern market. In addition, Secretary Daley will support the U.S. Government's efforts to reduce market access problems encountered by American firms in the Middle East.
ProNetLink.com's participation in Secretary Daley's Trade Mission to the Middle East represents the ongoing cooperative relationship between ProNetLink.com and the United States Department of Commerce. On September 13, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Robert Mallett was the keynote speaker at ProNetLink.com's Global Trade Conference at the United Nations, delivering a speech on the importance of the private sector in the development of Internet capability and e-commerce on a global scale.
