JFisher,

I think that Pepsi has no choice about going international...while it is certainly true there are some growth areas within fast food and the North American market in general, the real growth opportunities are outside the US. KO has been very successfully expanding in the world, while PEP has not. Does this mean I would sell PEP. No way. I would recommend buying both KO and PEP (maybe not at these levels).

I haven't heard a word about how the breakup will occur. It is a fact that it will occur sometime this year, however, how it will be done one can only speculate. So here is my speculation. You will probably keep your Frito/soda shares one for one - but at a market reduced price and get one share of the new company for each share you currently own. The two companies should add up to what the stock is worth at the time of the break-up. This is my guess.

The big question is this: Will Roger be able to grow both businesses?
I sure hope so....

Regards,

Gary
