Global Internet Voice over IP Clearing and Settlement Services

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- eGlobe, Inc. (Nasdaq:
EGLO) announced
the first commercial launch of the Open Internet Communications
Clearinghouse.
eGlobe, in cooperation with TransNexus, a leading supplier of IP
clearinghouse
solutions, has established an Open Internet Communications
Clearinghouse that
instantly enables Internet and circuit based telephone companies to
cost-
effectively terminate calls anywhere in the world and settle payments
among
other eGlobe clearinghouse members.
Employing the 2600/3600/5300 family of Cisco Systems, Inc. voice
routers,
the Clearinghouse will provide seamless access from the IP to the
circuit-switched world. The Open Settlement Protocol (OSP) will also
be
supported in the near future in 3Com Corporation and Lucent
Technologies
products.
The benefits of the eGlobe's Open Internet Communications
Clearinghouse
are rapid time to market, cost-effective access to a global market and

flexibility. eGlobe offers standards-based, carrier-grade
clearinghouse
services for Voice Over IP traffic that comply with the internationally
accepted OSP standard. The OSP standard enables a clearinghouse
to provide
secure, real time call routing, authorization between carriers and
collection
of intercarrier usage information. After joining the eGlobe Open VOIP
settlement group, members can immediately terminate calls world
wide using
their own Internet access and other clearinghouse members
aggressive VOIP rate
structure. Members can originate and/or terminate long distance
traffic at
their option and control the rates they offer to other members.
"This announcement provides the beginning of open access and
guaranteed
payment for wholesale traffic among IP carriers offering value added
services
such as voice and fax. In our vision, IP telephony will be more universal
than
circuit switched telephony. The eGlobe clearinghouse, which provides
open,
secure clearing and settlement of VoIP traffic among network
operators is the
critical enabler to fulfill this vision. Today, eGlobe can clear and settle
IP
telephony traffic among clearinghouse members. In the future, other
value-added communications services will be offered," said
Christopher Vizas,
eGlobe's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
"We are delighted that eGlobe has chosen TransNexus's ClearIP(SM)
clearing
and settlement solution. By deploying the TransNexus ClearIP(SM)
Clearinghouse
Solution, eGlobe can provide inter-domain authentication,
authorization and
settlement for Internet Telephony traffic," said Jim Dalton, Chief
Executive
Officer of TransNexus.
