Gary & Brian - Let me reaffirm my respect for Lucent and Cisco as great companies. However, I do believe Nortels annoucement. I do believe they have figured out how to integrate the optical layer with with routing and switching layer and will have a solution that does just that within one year. If Cisco or Lucent had made a similar annoucement, the street would not have reacted the same way they have to the Nortel annoucement. Lucent has to integrate their IP products from Ascend and their routers from Nexabit into their solutions. Cisco, with the acquisition of Cerent, finally has a presence in optical networking but could not accomplish this in one year. At last, we know why Nortel terminated its relationship with Avici. They had a better switch router in Versalar. kep
