Contrarion POV:

For those who think that today's announcement will be very positive for Amazon's business, I would pose the following question: what type of e-tailers will take advantage of Amazon's offer and actually sell via Amazon's site?

My guess would be "small ones". I would think that medium and large sized retailers will want to maintain their own brands and have their own web sites. Of course small e-tailers could still bring revenue to Amazon - but the field of competition here could be immense (Yahoo, AOL, etc.). I think, however, the revenue and profit generating potential of this new area of business is not certain enough to justify today's 25% increase in market valuation. Of course, what I think doesn't matter much.

Don't mean to be the only poor sport at the party. But I would like to get the views of others on what types of e-tailers we can expect to be selling via Amazon's site.

No AMZN position at the moment - and not even contemplating taking one.

Thanks,
-Eric
