Lucent is the most capable in competing with DiviCube on a technological basis. It will take time but we need to keep an eye on these guys.

NAB '97 BOOTH No.S2856--Demonstrating its leadership in digital video technologies, Lucent Technologies will exhibit several new products and technologies designed by Bell Labs for the broadcast market at NAB '97 in Las Vegas this week. The central focus of the Lucent booth, No. S2856 at Multimedia World at the Sands Expo Center, is its second-generation MPEG-2 Digital Video System, which enables efficient, cost-effective transmission, processing and storage of digital broadcast-quality video.
Lucent Technologies will also exhibit the following at NAB '97:
o CineBlitz(TM), a scalable media server which provides networked, real-time continuous media storage and delivery capability for today's most prevalent server platforms;
o LINKRunner(TM), a bi-directional protocol converter which reformats DS-3 transmission signals into the Sony Serial Digital Data Interface (SDDI) architecture, and
o MediaTraX(TM), sophisticated information insertion technology which provides a cost-effective way to transmit digital information from the television to a screen receiver.
Visitors to the Lucent Technologies booth will be able to view the quality of the Lucent MPEG-2 encoder through a Digital Video Disk (DVD) - produced specially for NAB '97 - that will be projected on a video wall.
