I've been very pleased with my 2 19" Iiyama Visionmaster 450's, which are nearly a year old and good buy now, i.e. cheap. The 450 happens to use a shadow mask tube as opposed to an aperture grill tube, but Iiyama makes monitors of each size in both tube types and can tell you which model would be best for your purposes. Viewsonic also has great variety in their models and could probably do the same. You might also want to check out PCWorld's latest review of 19" monitors. It's one of their regular features and can be found hunting around the reviews at their website. It's been awhile since I read it but my impression was that they thought the latest models were better than previous, mainly because many manufacturers have gone to "true flat" tubes, including Iiyama, but I don't remember their cost.
