The matchbook-sized smart module (part No. BFOOT-10501) provides an easy, low-cost commercial way to make products as varied as weather stations, blood analyzers and fitness machines usable via the Internet. Also, integrating the server module into commercial designs has been simplified through HP's use of the VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) and Tornado development tools from Wind River Systems of Alameda, Calif.
