JDN - Re: "You know ever since the earthquake in Taiwan I have found myself AMAZED that the world allowed Taiwan to become so individually important to technology. Gosh, what would happen if the Mainland Chinese decided to attack and take over directly the country? Frankly, until now, I never gave it a thought. Scary isnt it?"

The "WORLD" doesn't partition success in some self-ordained game plan.

Those people with the brains and initiative and hard work make their success - wherever they may be - and the Taiwan engineers have excelled at pulling all this together.

They just happen to live in Taiwan.

Therefore, Taiwan is a critical element in world technology - just as SIlicon Valley is - which also happens to sit on top of many massive earthquake faults.

Maybe there's a common denominator here ?
