From Briefing.Com on USRF: 13:04 ET ****** USURF America (USRF) (Bulletin Board) 4 1/16 +3/8: Mark this one FYA (For Your Amusement): Here's a no-name stock that picked the wrong day to announce itself. This little bulletin board stock, put out a press release stating that it is opening a "mall" linking together all of the great shopping sites of the internet, including Amazon.com (AMZN). But if you check out the web site, www.e-tail.com, half of the links don't work, and you can't see any links to any major shopping sites. In fact, quite laughably, the links point to files on the A drive! In other words, they have posted on the net some demo they created for some other purpose! It would be extremely funny, except that somebody is buying the stock today. The great boom of the internet has brought forth a seemingly endless procession of little companies trying to jump onto the bandwagon, however feebly. USURF America used to be called Internet Media, until they acquired privately held USRF.com in July, and then changed their name. But as of March 31, they have only $79,000 in cash on hand. Today's announcement, put next to Amazon.com's ZShop announcement earlier (see below), just emphasizes how far the big boys have gone in establishing their brand name. Everyone has heard of Amazon.com. How many people are actually going to start shopping at www.e-tail.com? Have you ever heard of it before? Most people reading this probably haven't. We hadn't. Now you have. But if you want to use their service, make sure you have their demo disk in your A drive, or the web site won't work. - RVG |
