Since you are getting a full trace report to Interquote.com, you should be able to connect to the home page. Unfortunately your route through the backbone is going thru Chicago with AGIS.NET. I moved back to Florida from Hawaii a few months ago, just to be on the other side of AGIS.NET because of my constant problems with getting Interquote and my online broker Ceres, because of the down time with AGIS.NET. Other areas on the backbone that can cause problems are with some San Francisco and Los Angles backbone providers. The trick is to find a ISP provider that has the least amount of connections thru the backbone to Interquote, plus trying to side step the backbone providers that cause most of the Internet problems.
When you have a connection problem with any of your web sites, immediately do a trace route to that site. Later when you have a clear connection to that same site, do the trace route again. Compare the two. You will see certain backbone providers that consistently have problems.
For instance, here is the Recent AGIS Network Problems for today which I am sure has caused many of the people on this thread the problems for today. If you notice my own trace route to the Interquote server, my data travels with very few connections, and does not go thru Chicago.

Ameritech has notified us that they are doing scheduled maintenance on one of their ATM switches in Chicago. AGIS was not notified of this maintenance, but Ameritech says the maintenance will be completed by 8am EST.

Currently all peering at the Ameritech NAP in Chicago is down. Ameritech is not sure what the problem is at this time, but they are investigating it. Although traffic appears to be routing ok throughout other peering points, please call our Network Operations Center if you have any problems. Check this page for updates.
InterQuote last month listed several national ISP providers that they felt would give the best trouble free connections thru the backbone to their server site. |
