From the wording of the press release and ACS does not mention AMR on their web page... Put the two releases together ..
My guess only.... Yet I do not know why DSSI could not put it in their press release
DSSI's Comverge Technologies Awarded Contract to Provide AMR/Load Management Component to the World's First Integrated SCADA/AMR/Load Management System
FLORHAM PARK, NJ and ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1999-- Venture represents first comprehensive approach to utility load management and distribution system optimization, extending beyond the substation level to individual customers; potential to expand to full scale implementation and to other utilities worldwide --
Comverge Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has signed an agreement with Advanced Control Systems, Inc. (ACS) to deliver a state-of-the-art utility management and customer communication system. The advanced system supplied by Comverge Technologies is a key part of the comprehensive SCADA-based distribution automation system that ACS is integrating for a major utility project. Comverge is a subsidiary of Data Systems & Software Inc. (NASDAQ: DSSI - news). Advanced Control Systems is a private firm headquartered in Norcross, Georgia.
Comverge will supply its real-time two-way communication system and the expertise needed to allow the utility to interface with thousands of residential and commercial/industrial customers (including cogeneration, interruptible, and standby power customers) for automatic meter reading, load management, remote connection/disconnection, and real time pricing. As such, this contract supports and expands the ability of Comverge to support the two-way communications needed between utilities and their customers.
Dave Moore, Vice President, ACS, stated that: ``Automatic meter reading and load management are integral to our vision of distribution automation/demand-side management. We are extremely pleased to have a company like Comverge, with its experience and expertise, on board for this landmark project.
The integrated system is designed to increase up-time and reduce operating costs for utilities. The integrated system will allow utilities to locate, isolate, and, in many cases, resolve power outages automatically, without dispatcher intervention, in real time. Supporting control features include automatic meter reading, distribution network mapping down to individual customers, and load management/ surveillance, which will allow the utility to monitor and adjust power consumption remotely. The system will also support distribution modeling tasks, valuable for determining appropriate expansion of the distribution system. The project will be delivered by Comverge to ACS on a turn-key basis, with both ACS and Comverge providing installation and operation support.
``This contract sets the stage for utilities to be able to integrate their operations with customers' actual needs. Together, ACS and Comverge stand ready to assist utility clients using this integrated approach worldwide', stated Frank Magnotti, President of Comverge Technologies.
