Richard: I looked at one option of protection today, but it also limets you up side profit. If one were to sell the 110 leap option for Jan 2002 and use that preimum to then buy the 65 may 2000 puts you protect your down side. I figure that by May 2000 the issues should be resolved and Rambus will either be at 10 or 110. The down side to this system is that you in effect sold the stock for 110 and don't get paid until Jan 2002.
