Ha, you mean the same Ebbers that doesn't know how to response to a major outage, which last far longer (10 DAYS) than it should? Whose company sat around hoping things would stabilize, when proactive action should have been taken? At least T response to a similar outage (18 hours) was swift in comparision, without any fingerpointing and Armstrong was calling the customers personally to update them. There a reason that MCI was always second fiddle to T, they have lousy customer service.

As to T's wireless data strategy, it really amuses me to see everyone think that T is only voice with no data strategy, it truly does. Their data strategy is the same as everyone elses, with the same state goals for speed as prescribed by the IMT-2000 standard. It's a matter of choice of technology and whether it is the more efficent use of the the available frequency spectrum that is at issue. Comparing a PCS system to a cellular system is apples and oranges, why not compare Bell Atlantic to T or GTE to T, as they all are cellular. They all are supporting legacy analog customers, why I don't understand, but they are which chews up precious frequency spectrum that can be better served digitally. The Aussie are right in terminating analog by a specific date.
