Can someone explain if the costs for merchants participating
in Zshops is comparable to the costs for merchants on YHOO's sites ?
My understanding is that a merchant pays AMZN a monthly flat fee of $ 9.99 (for up to 3000 items) plus a fee of 2-5 % of
the sales price of the merchandise. In addition, the merchant pays AMZN $ .60 per item plus 4.75 % of the sales
price of the merchandise if the customer uses the 1 click
shopping option. Isn't this latter charge a fee typically
imposed on the merchant by the credit card company ? Doesn't the credit card company still impose that charge on
a merchant when someone purchases an item at Zshops using the 1 click shopping option ? How does AMZN justify charging the
incremental $ .60 per item plus 4.75 % ? Is AMZN price competitive with YHOO and others when these supplemental
charges are imposed on participating merchants ? Thanks to
everyone for your comments.
