Stellar ST2500 ORBCOMM Communicator Product Line Approved for Use Across Europe
DULLES, Va., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ORBCOMM Global, L.P. (ORBCOMM), the first commercial provider of global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite data and messaging communications services, today announced that Stellar Satellite Communications' ST2500 subscriber communicator (SC) product line has received European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) approval and is now available for use in Europe.
Stellar SCs are small communicators capable of sending and receiving short data messages from fixed or mobile assets anywhere on the globe using ORBCOMM's network of LEO satellites. Stellar SCs were among the world's first communicators designed to work with the ORBCOMM network. Stellar's communicators are designed for applications such as mobile asset tracking, two-way messaging, remote asset monitoring and control, environmental monitoring and asset security.
``The ETSI approval will allow Stellar to actively market its product in Europe and capitalize on two years of successful product tests and evaluations,' said Zvi Huber, President of Stellar Satellite Communications. ``The ST2500 and its modular design can support any mobile or fixed site application, either as an OEM card or a full hardware solution. Stellar can help European companies cut time to market as we have integrated in this design all that we have learned from our success in the North American market.'
``Stellar's ST2500 communicators are an attractive communications option for European businesses, and we're excited about working with Stellar to bring them to market,' said Scott L. Webster, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ORBCOMM. ``Stellar SCs give customers the ability to cost-effectively track and communicate with assets anywhere in the world. The ORBCOMM system was designed for that purpose, and Stellar has been an important partner in delivering global data communications solutions to forward-thinking businesses.'
