Cendant's news release today has significance for HMSK. I'm not sure whether the significance is good or bad. Clearly, Cendant in creating completehome.com is separating itself from HOMS which is no surprise. Will it be a rival to HMSK or will there be some sort of business relationship in cooperation with HMSK? Cendant plans to announce several business development and distribution deals over the next several weeks. If HMSK has direct competition from a player the size of Cendant, it will present major problems. On the other hand, cooperation between the two would be great.
One can see, once again, the need for Jones Day if a business relationship is planned.
HMSK has held up well in this market correction and end of quarter positioning. I don't look for any improvement until next week at the earliest.
