Let's not call it derangement- let's call it a really strange belief system. Lots of people in this country suspend their disbelief all the time- they believe in con men, they believe in TV evangelists- Reagan just happened (imo) to be more egocentric than most people and managed to suspend all disbelief about Himself. That can work for people. People who THINK they are Gods can sometimes do amazing things- but there's about a 50/50 chance those things will be destructive or constructive. Look at Napolean, and Hitler and many many other leaders who managed to believe in the myth of themselves. Lots of countries have had leaders that suffer from this "derangement" and I don't like it, but it makes them appealing to the masses who also long to be "deranged."
