WAS HE THE PRESIDENT?

The "high up" official was to be a guest of a commoner.
The host prepared an extraordinary dinner.
Seated.
Passing the food.
When the "official" got the mashed potatoes, he took both hands and lathered his face and hands with it.
The host was aghast.
"Why'd you do that with the mashed potatoes?"
"Mashed potatoes? I thought it was lettuce salad."
