So I know who Kohl copied in that instance. Kohl lied, as always, for the good cause, but in the same moment, as always, insisted that his promises were to be taken literal.

About German capital: you are aware that German private capital is invested 80% in foreign countries? That this hasn't changed much by reunification? That the GDR was financially dependent of FRG during their last years? (Partly thanks to Mr. F.J.Strauss, who opposed credits to the GDR, but flew in his own jet to East-Berlin to make his infamous Milliardenkredit deal in, I think, 1984.) That each out of France, Britain and Japan have invested more private industrial capital in Germany's East betweeen 1990 and 1992 than Germany? That the growing Western German capitalization in former GDR mainly occured by the undoing of the socialist capital liquidations?

And another one:

Was the question about German border revisions really directed mostly at the U.S.? Wasn't especially in this field Eastern European trust in Germany already quite substantial? Wasn't Gorbachev's angst that the U.S. would, through NATO and Germany, come nearer to the Soviet border as important? Balanced in the end however by the prospect that the situation of Russian troops in Eastern Germany might become quite difficult, once the process had gained impact?

Thanks so much, regards MNI.
