Microsoft Gives The Skinny On Thin Clients
techweb.com

"Microsoft is taking new aim at the thin-client market with the development of Windows-Based Terminal Professional
edition, based on Windows NT Embedded 4.0, the company said Tuesday at the Embedded Systems Conference West in San Jose, Calif. "

"The current Windows-based terminal standard edition is based on the Win CE operating system. The Professional versions will add features such as Internet Explorer 5.0 browser support, improved graphics, access to NT device drivers, and Windows Media Technologies for streaming media."

"In a related announcement, Houston-based Compaq said it will begin shipping a line of Win-based terminals in October, first deploying the standard edition, then moving to the professional edition when it is released in the first quarter of 2000. "
