Put in a limit order today to buy a thousand shares of a NASDAQ stock. After about five minutes I saw that it wasn't going to fill so I hit the cancel order button. There was a message letting me know that initially it would show that the order to cancel was pending and that I should not presume that the order was cancelled until the status indicated cancelled. Makes sense! After five minutes of trying to confirm the cancellation over the internet on the Trading Pit site I called Web Street and a broker confirmed that the order had been cancelled. It was not reflected on the web page for thirty-five minutes. I don't know the reason for the delay over the internet. It's a waste of a brokers time to have to answer my call and my time to have to call him not to mention hitting the reload button over and over to confirm the cancellation of the trade.
