Cree hires a heavy hitter in RF/microwave unit. This is getting serious:
DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Cree Research (NASDAQ:CREE), announced today the appointment of Raymond S. Pengelly to the new post of general manager, microwave and RF products. In this new position, Pengelly will be responsible for the management of the company's microwave business unit, which includes the recently introduced and planned family of RF power transistor products designed for wireless and broadcast applications. Mr. Pengelly joins Cree from Raytheon RF Components where he headed up the advanced MMIC product development team. While at Raytheon, Pengelly was responsible for establishment of the central design group for commercial RF and wireless gallium arsenide MMIC products and worked closely with key customers in defining new product development requirements for handset and infrastructure components. His duties included establishing product development application teams for cellular, wireless LAN, satellite and millimeter-wave and product package development. Prior to joining Raytheon, Mr. Pengelly held various positions in marketing and sales where he was responsible for new business development, creation of a new sales organization including setting up regional applications offices and European and Japanese support centers, engineering, and research projects related to RF and microwave products. Pengelly received his B.S in physics and M.S. in electronics from Southampton University, United Kingdom.
