It's critical that the cost be better or you might as well have dsl.

As far as the "always on," it is just a reference to that the fact that in practical use you don't reconnect as you do with a normal modem. I walk up to the pc after being off for 15 minutes, click on my "si-qcom" shortcut, and I am on the thread. 2 seconds; maybe 1. Could have been 1+ minutes before, and sometimes I would get dropped again. I have never been dropped with the dsl. the screen has never frozen either, I don't know why. I thought that was usually the browser.
