Phil LeBeau, DSL Companies; NTPA, EFNT, RBAK, CMTN
This is a fast changing market with many companies not know to investors
DSL companies give an affordable way to get high speed access since using a T1 line, a line that is continually open for about $1500.00 a month or using a DSL and spending a few hundred every month, this is clearly the new wave in broadband
Their main common link, they use regular copper phone lines to deliver fast Internet connection and they are young companies that have not been trading for long
Anton Wahlman of Warburg Dillon Read, states that the market is hot but not how it will be in the near future, he states that many people do not know all the benefits of using DSL and when they catch on the DSL market will skyrocket
NTPA at 40 3/4 up 3/4, they make routers to make available to small businesses a more affordable way to get broadband, doing fairly well following several upgrades, the stock has doubled in the last two months
EFNT: at 36 3/8 down 1 9/16, a DSL equipment maker
RBAK: at 114 up 3/4, maker of equipment that tracks DSL traffic
CMTN: at 88 7/16 up 1 7/8, maker of DSL routers
The major concern of these and other DSL companies is the high amount of volatility, these stocks trade up and down at very high speeds
