EKHO PROJECT
In July 1999 a consortium of junior oil and gas exploration
companies formed an area of mutual interest known as the EKHO
project. The area covers approximately 167,000 acres and is
located to the east of the now famous Bellevue #1 discovery well
in California's San Joaquin Valley. The Bellevue #1 well blew
out of control on November 23, 1998, while drilling at about
17,600 feet. This discovery well flowed at an estimated 100
mmcf/d of natural gas and demonstrated that giant reserves of oil
and gas are possible deep in the valley. In proximity to this
play US$9.5 million initial well of the EKHO project is targeting
the Lower Temblor formation at a depth of approximately 18,000
feet. Drilling funds have already been advanced by the partners
and the well is expected to spud near the end of November 1999.
