>>"...almost any company can install ASI's application while still using their existing hardware and legacy software."

"It enables a firm to collect and distribute accurate, reliable data throughout the enterprise - in REAL TIME."<<

Your Questions . . .

>>I guess the bottom line is ASI has a technological and cost advantage over most of its competitors.<<

Yes! I recall presenting the best bid for software to the Senior management of my former company. The price tag was around $1 million. However, when the IT guys finally woke up and started to crunch the numbers, they came back with a cost of over $3 million that would be needed to upgrade the hardware within our company to properly run the application. By the way, this was an acceptable number given the benefits the software would bring. However it was delayed because we had just committed to spending over $5 million for another system. Paying for and implementing both systems would have been too big a pill to swallow all at once. I can also tell you that if we did not have the huge (and largely unexpected) costs of having to upgrade our hardware, then the company would have purchased the software without hesitation. So yes, I believe that ASI has a distinct advantage here.

>>I assume implementation time, the average cost per plant (key for large corporation looking for economies of scale because they have anywhere from 10-150 plants) and a proven track record with large corporations such as DaimlerChrysler are the key factors that differentiates ASI from others in a competitive bid process?<<

Any smart corporation understands the value of reducing the number of external vendors / suppliers that they deal with. The preference is almost always to favour those vendors with whom you have established a relationship of trust and consistency. This is what ASI has done with their existing client base. When they can now come to their existing customers with a new "state of the art", application that is tailor made for their type of operation, then you can bet that the customer will listen pretty intently to what they have to say. ASI's President has been quoted as saying that they could do very well by just expanding to the rest of the branch operations within their existing client base. Now when you add in the potential for a percentage of the other 397,000 new businesses that are now in their sights, then things get pretty exciting.
