Just trying to get a handle on this Juniper move... does the following have something to do with the move? Using labels that complement those used by routers to do multi protocol label switching for routers, optical label switching would perform packet forwarding, but leave routing to routers, and also handle other protocols. The optical technique promises to relieve the potential processing bottleneck at routers, and do so with low overhead, efficient bandwidth use, and ultra low latency.
