Actually, it is me that is asking a pointed question -- why is the statistic that more illiterates vote against the BJP than for it, considered significant in the first place?

a) It is better to be literate than illiterate.

b) The government should try to increase the literacy rate.

c) The congress has more support among illiterates.

d) Maybe this gives the congress a vested interest in keeping people illiterate.

Hope the significance is clear enough now?
