Pooky: You are mixing a bit of apples in with your oranges. 38 gateways does not mean 38 countries. (China is scheduled to have 3) I would bet (given BS track record) the 85% coverage is 85% of the G* network's planned coverage, which has never been 100% of the world's surface. No, they do not have SP's in every country covered by a gateway. (approx 1500 mile radius around the gateway, which is conservative on account of the desire to have the high connection and call retention rates.)
