If you don't know what I mean by deservedly paranoid, check the casualty stats for WWII. There's more to that story and a couple of others. Russia should praise God for creating winter.

They did pay the highest price in casualties in WWII, but remember they were aggressors in Poland too. Having made a secret deal with Hitler to divide Poland after they both invaded. Tell me this. Why did England and France declare war on Germany for the Polish invasion but not the USSR? The mutual defense treaty they had with Poland would have required them to declare war on both countries. I know you really can't answer that, I'm just throwing it out there because history has ignored the question.

You must not be aware of the successes of the USSR's spying efforts in there first years all the way through WWII and into the fifties. They had the west by the short and curlies and we didn't even know it. It wasn't until the CIA was formed after the War and the soviet moles were finally uncovered in England and here that we gained against them. We've never rivaled their successes against us. We just beat them with our hot economy and superior weaponry and technological expertise. I'm sure that is an over simplification though.
