OT> Well, since we are on the topic of stupid moves that led to disastrous effects. Have you ever heard of Project Argus [1958] or Project Starfish [1962]? U.S. Military exploded a series of nukes 480km in the air of the South Pacific as an experiment. These explosions greatly disturbed the lower Van Allen Belt, which is the natural radiation shield for earth, which is very much like a skin.

One of these nukes was said to have destroyed the lower Van Allen belt for a period of time. . .those viewing the blast, which was seen from all parts of the Pacific. . .said it appeared as though "the sky had caught fire."

Now if that isn't stupid enough. . .we still have a program that is related to those early tests, jointly managed by the U.S. Army and Navy, based at Gakona, Alaska called HAARP [High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program] . . where we are messing with the ionosphere for the purpose of developing extremely low frequency [ELF] radio transmitters for submarine communication.

They have successfully made ionospheric disturbances, false auroras and a few other ridiculous disturbances to our fragile planet. Started in 1993, it is still underway.
