Day Five....o.k., what do we know..

1. I believe from reading the EBN article that Intel has narrowed the problem and has figured its preferred solution. It is getting everybody ready to accept the painful consequences of going with a mandated two slot configuration, possibly coupled with a shorter bus line (sorry engineers, if I am mangling your language) to reduce crosstalk, etc. Tradeoffs, but not very good ones, I think

2. Effect: Lots and lots of motherboards trashed. New design laid out and certified as "bug resistent".

3. Money: Lots of it, tossed around by Intel to everyone to forgive and forget. Arms twisted, palms crossed with pictures of dead presidents.

4. Rambus technology validated...but, continued emphasis on establishng standards and mandating specific design features in all Rambus compatible equipment. At least until the product line is off and running.

5. Actual cost of all this in prestige and money and confidence of customers.....?
