I see a fine article has been published. Guess who is in it? ;^)

Virtual Vigilantes
Sometimes, the people who participate in investment bulletin board discussions also patrol them for scam artists. Janice Shell is one such investor who makes a hobby of exposing stock scams on bulletin boards. Her advice: "Learn how to ask questions. It's OK to call the company but essential to attempt to verify everything they say independently."

Policing the Bulletin Boards
Some investors spot scams themselves and use the Net to turn the tables. Janice Shell has been a busy contributor to the threads on the Silicon Investor site since 1996.

One of her earliest coups, for example, was a company called Mountain Energy, which owned mineral rights in West Virginia claimed to be worth $200 million. Janice and other dubious investors on the thread did some digging.

It turned out that the company had gone through a number of names and failed businesses, from Internet hardware sales to floating casinos to convenience stores. For each of these ventures, the exact same management team made glowingly optimistic predictions designed to
attract capital.

Janice Shell poked holes in the overblown claims on Silicon Investor. She doesn't know for sure if her posts alerted the SEC, but the stock was eventually suspended from trading, and Mountain Energy closed its doors. Court action is pending.

Oh the bright lights....I can see rays poking thru garbage dumps and piled refuse along the cyber highways and virtual back alley crap games of the OTC BB.... ;^) scurry scurry scurry....Ben...Hurry ...hurry...hurry...
