The British plotted the most barbaric act before leaving India: they engineered the divide among Hindus and Muslims after the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny and broke India in the wake of their departure; Hindus and the converted Muslims had lived in the subcontinent within the same villages and cooperated to fight against the British rule.
The British obviously acted as grand crooks. The English language, infrastructure "development", ete. were to extort fees from Indians and sell their merchandise in India!! [You know the District Collectorates.]
You are certainly incapable of comprehending the bigger picture, or maybe you are hurt by the development that the grand British mischief implanted in the Indian subcontinent is going to bite the British, as the Americans (with whom the British have been grudgingly kow-towing after their defeat in America) are befriending the Indians. The British have instilled all kinds of mis-information in the American policy makers' minds about India as a poor country with no toilets, etc., and Americans did not bother about India viewing the country as an inconsequential Soviet surrogate. The British have lost credibility in the world because of their evil designs and mis-information that Americans have come to fully understand. Even as late as May 1998, the British orchestrated to isolate India; but USA quickly learnt its folly of following the grand crooks' advice. The British advised Americans that the Indian economy would be ruined by sanctions and the poor nation would perish if sanctions were imposed and a tough policy for nuclear disarmament in India is followed. The British even advised Americans to bomb Indian nuclear facilities to de-fang Indian nuclear capability. Sanctions were imposed. But the land of Chanakya (the economist guru of heydays in India) had already calculated the so-called damage that the sanctions would cause to the Indian economy.
As the NRIs poured $5 billions to India in a matter of days [and some British Americans filed suit against SBI that they were not allowed to invest in the RIBS], Americans quickly grasped the preposterous British advice that simply benefited France and Russia at the expense of America that had been assiduously planning to exploit the Indian market and talent pool.
Americans have had a chance, by now, to learn directly about the thriving and successful Indian intellectuals in USA and UK and the rest of the world; and that, if the playing field is leveled, Indians can beat the hell out of anyone you name. [Observe the facts in a post that you ignored to comment on, which the more prudent Americans are directly noticing!] The Americans are learning to their chagrin that Russia, China and India maybe allied against the Western domination of the world simply because of their ill-[British]advised policy towards India.
Now, the American policy towards India is completely independent of the mischievous British input. It seems you are peddling titbits here to "convince" the most informed of Indians about how great the British were to India. I suspect you might be a British who grew up in India and has lost track of the tremendous progress Indians have made to foil the British designs. The new developments seem to be hurting you now because you must be learning what would happen next, namely, when Americans and Indians form partnership: the British will kow-tow Indians begging for forgiveness. |
