As to what India will get in return, and also whether opposing forces within India itself will even allow these to happen, there are huge, huge question marks. India is also very smart, reaching the height of diplomatic accomplishments (thanks to Jaswant Singh-Vajpayee doctrine) and is following its independent policy like strongly condemning the NATO's bombardment of Kosovo and befriending France and Russia with tacit winking of China for a multi-polar world which is a euphemism for denying the US hegemony in the world stage. That is why the USA is also apprehensive of India, but what's the alternative left for the Americans? The alternative is to push India to the triangular Russia-China-India club.
