Aziz, whose nation has persistently demanded US
mediation on Kashmir, said the US stand on the
issue was a big let-down for Pakistan, which had
stood by the US all through the Cold War and the
Afghanistan imbroglio. The US has repeatedly
rejected Pakistani demands for mediation and
asked both nations to resolve the problem
bilaterally.

``From a Pakistani perspective, while we desire
close, cooperative ties with the US, our appraisal
of the history of these relations is marked by a
feeling of being let down,' he said addressing the
Asia Society.
