My understanding is that the 49r is a reference to those men
and women who traveled to California in 1849 in search of gold.
Back then in the West of USA was unsettled with no HMO or corner
drugstore or food markets of frozen tv dinners. Milk came out
of a cow, not a cardboard or plastic container.
Life was raw and rough and unforgiven. Mistakes made then
could not be fixed or undone like todays Home Depot & WalMart,
but by you with what you had and you knew.
Trust and fair play between folks was not done because everyone
was a push over and timid, but because everyone was stretched
to the limit just to survive for water food and shelter,
and if you could not trust your neighboor and this snowballed
with everyone not trusting others, then everyone's chance to
survive in that environment was lessened to the side of not
making it. So, not a code of honor, but a code to live and
let live, and help others since you may become the other needing
help. Not the city view here where others are a possible threat,
where in the city dog eat dog to survive. In the wild unsettled
West of USA of 1800's what you saw was what you get, both in
the land and in people.
This is the Ole 49r type, or Ole 49r is this type.
Henry is that city slicker type knowned by those in the wild
unsettled west as one to be advoided, but if he does enter
your living space(si thread), then do as you would if you were
in a fight with another in hand to hand combat. Don't watch
his hands or the knife he is holding, but look him directly
in the eyes at all time. On a thread like this, looking him
in the eyes is done by telling him what you are thinking, and
then pursue messages for a eye contact.

shortcovering rally unwinds nearly 19 years of the leasing game you
created and have benefitted from?
It took you and your peers too damn long to convince the banks to do
this lease crap in the first place 19 years ago for me or anyone else to
believe for an instant, they rolled over this easily or gave up the
game. For starters, you ARE in there, aren't you, personally, Henry,
holding institution shorts' hands, making the phone calls and assuring
them you'll find them more gold to lease if they just give you a few
