ok jhild...and everybody else...you want to have a little fun...try to figure this one out...betcha cant...
here is a riddle...this is not a trick...there is a correct
mathematical answer, but only one...
a man walked into a store to purchase four articles...
when he paid for them, the clerk said, "i am sorry sir...my cash register is broken so i must
figure out how much you owe me on my calculator"
the clerk did some figuring, and told the man he owed 7 dollars and 11 cents...7.11...
the man asked him how he came to that amount...
the clerk said..."well sir, i took the first price and multiplied it by the second price...i then took
that number and multiplied it by the price of the third thing...then i took that price and multiplied
it by the price of the fourth thing...so you owe me 7.11"...
well...!!!...the man was flabbergasted with such stupidity...
he excitedly told the clerk, "son, you did it wrong, you are simply supposed to add the prices of
the four articles together to get the amount i owe you"...
so...embarrassed, the clerk apologized and began to add...
when he got finished he told the man, "ok sir, i did it the way you said, and you still owe me 7
dollars and 11 cents"...
AND HE WAS CORRECT BOTH TIMES...
your problem, ladies and gentlemen, should you choose to accept this riddle, is this...
tell me exactly what was the price of each article...
as i said, this is not a trick question...there are four (and only 4) numbers that will add AND
multiply and give you 7.11...
