Hi Zoltan,

Once again, I'll have more time to chat with you on Monday October 4th.... However, I think you're wrong on this one:

...so I'll ask you to think "comparative advantage". Both the US and Mexico benefit.

This 'comparative advantage' buzz was first developed by David Riccardo over a century ago and is totally irrelevant today. Why? Because it's based on the Darwinist prejudice that some people are better fit to carry out such and such jobs than others. For instance, you just made the wrong assumption that Mexicans are a perfect fit for low-wage, poor-value-add assignments (textile and consumer electronics sweatshops, eg) whereas better educated Americans will always be able to maintain themselves at the top of the value-add foodchain. Yet, with today's globalized ITs, the most sophisticated tasks will shift overseas as well and there'll be no more 'comparative edge' when every country will be able to carry out any industry.

Gus.
