JD's car did go off of the road, but it wasn't a cliff. The area was relatively flat.

My mother-in-law says that it was on the Sepulveda Pass, but I remember it being out in the desert someplace. Of course, she was alive than, and I was a few years from entering this world so I deferred to her.
