The conversion is expensive. I would not think that Samsung would want to convert and then re-convert unless the RAMBUS chip was going to be delayed for a significant amount of time. If the report about Samsung is correct, then I think the problem may be serious (even though neither Intel or Rambus see fit to disclose information of a material matter). Bu, the article out of Korea dated 10/1 (Samsung readying to get things into full swing) seems to refute the article in EE (I think) dated 9/30 (Samsung gets ready to convert). Which is correct? The heck if I know. And, I will go out on a limb and say noone on this thread does either. They just think they do. Ouch! I am sure I will get some more posts from the likes of, well, I will leave it at that.
