THIS MONTH IN THE FRONT OFFICE -- Part 1

Following the week's news, my next post will show the financial details of the Front Office Gorilla Game as of the end of September.

The Week's News

As I reported earlier in the week, Oracle delayed shipment of its Oracle Applications 11i for what might be a couple months and the front office product integration until next year. Not to be too cynical, but oh my gosh, who woulda thunk Oracle would delay yet another front office initiative?

From RealMarket: "Remedy Corporation is launching a program designed to help its customers get through the final phases of their Year 2000 (Y2K) preparations more easily and economically. The company is offering its customers special temporary additional software licenses at reduced prices, just in time to help those customers beef up their Y2K resources during the fourth quarter of 1999."

Siebel and American Management Systems (AMS) "have formed a global strategic alliance to jointly deliver end-to-end front office software solutions for AMS clients across multiple industries. ... As a Strategic Consulting Partner in the Siebel Alliance Program, AMS will create industry teams of Siebel-trained experts to effectively implement Siebel's enterprise sales, marketing and customer service solutions to AMS's private and public sector clients. Under the agreement, AMS will create a Siebel Front Office Solutions Center comprised of experienced Siebel trained consultants within its AMS Center for Advanced Technologies, and at other locations in the U.S. and Europe."

From the press release: "Extraprise, the e-services firm that unifies online with offline to create new opportunities for customer-driven businesses, and Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEBL) today announced that Extraprise has been named a premier member of the Siebel Alliance Program. This extends the companies' two-year relationship, which has resulted in successful customer engagements at leading companies such as Great-West Life, American Re-insurance, Harris Corporation and BankBoston."

In August, Clarify announced the purchase of privately held Newtonian Software for $16.5 million in stock and cash. This week it became a done deal.

If you're interested in seeing the highlights of an AMR research report about the growth of the CRM industry and the move of the ERP players into the space, see my post earlier in the week. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll post the notes I keep on my hard disk.

See my next post in a fixed font for the details of the Front Office Gorilla Game.
