Bob, It is so good to here from you again. Jack and I often talk of you and the good old days with Paul L. Does Jack know that you are over here on SI now? Perhaps your return to these Boards will be enough to prompt him to return?
I agree with you, Jack is the best day trader I have ever seen also. In the days of BJJP, I made more money, on a percentage basis, than at any other time in my 35 years of investing. I think the combination of the four of us at that time, was a very dynamite confluence of talents, and I would love to see a return to that type of sharing here.
In the absence of good sharing, I have not been posting as much as I used to in the days of Prodigy. Contributing to this reduction, was the proliferation of what I call garbage posts on the other "Intel" thread. It became impossible for me to weigh through the many bad posts, in order to get to the good ones, night after night. But in all honesty, my main reason for not posting, is that I have become very successful over the years with my core holdings in INTC, CSCO, and ALTR. I guess I don't have the same motivation these days. I am very pleased to report to you Bob, that these long term holdings have made me a wealthy man. Consequently, the type of all consuming due dilligence that I was doing then, has admittedly diminished.
Like yourself, I have been trading short term options, mostly covered calls, on my core holdings. (I attribute this directly to Jack's influence). I had been short naked calls on IBM, for more than a year, as a cross hedge against my Intel profits,(this was against Jack's advice, I might add)....but when it became evident that the analysts where not seeing what I was seeing, I gave up. I still believe IBM holds the rest of the market vulnerable, and that any significant drop in IBM would bring the rest of the large cap tech stocks, and the DOW, down along with it.
Recently, I have been accumulating a very large position in IDTC. I strongly recommend you look at this stock before Monday's close. They are expected to announce earnings Monday after the market closes. I think they will beat estimates, but even if they don't, it is a very positive long term story, and has become a large core holding of mine. Eventually, I believe, their value will increase dramatically, as they are a very attractive takeover candidate for a Telco, ISP, or Portal company, desiring to get into the long distance, voice over Net, telephony business. IDTC owns 57% of the relatively new IPO, Net-to-Phone, (NTOP), which came public in July of this year. NTOP has gone from 15 to 90 and back to 53 in just the last two months, and its increase in stock value has not yet been reflected in IDTC's price. Please Bob, if you do look into IDTC I would love the benefit of your opinion. Best regards, Jules PS...With your permission I will forward a copy of your post to me, and my response, on to Jack. Perhaps it will influence him to return here.
