JD... THE FED WILL TIGHTEN! THE FED WILL NOT TIGHTEN! Who Cares? Message 11431036 All in good spirit here, but I think you answered your own question better than anyone else could have. The market is indeed 90% pack mentality, and technical analysis is really just the charting of mass psychology. I think one of the reasons these threads are so preoccupied with the issues of the FOMC and other economic reports is that they have been running on fear, and by trying to gauge these fears, one is able to gain some perspective on short and intermediate term direction, and play those moves for profit. So really in the end, the complex economics of it all play very little into the gains a private investor is able to realize and hopefully secure. Rather it is the caring about the short, medium and long term effects of mass psychology that will earn ones keep in the market. I'm guessing that is why so many obsess over these things.
