GaryS, (OT) re: "I recall paying $800 (IIRC) for a black and white "laser quality" ink jet HP printer in 91(?)"

I hate to show my age but I recall paying $5,000 for a 200CPS dot matrix printer in 1978. The monthly maintenance bill was about what it costs today to buy a low-end but far faster color printer.

In those days, an 80MB hard drive cost >$10,000, weighed >100 lbs, and drew 900 watts of power! And memory was rated in MILLI-seconds, costing $1,500 for 64 KILO-bytes. Amazingly, some of those components are still in use today.

Craig

PS Anyone considering a printer/scanner/copier is well advised to consider buying a separate printer and scanner. For a few dollars more, you can get exactly what you want instead of settling for compromises.
