U.S. Economists Predict Fed Won't Raise Rates, USA Today Says
The U.S. Federal Reserve Board won't raise short-term interest rates at its Open Market Committee meeting tomorrow, 38 of 45 economists surveyed by USA Today predicted, while seven said the Fed will raise rates, the newspaper said. Of those surveyed, 18 predicted the Fed will adopt a tightening stance toward future action, meaning it is leaning toward a future rate increase, the newspaper said.
