I think the problem is a bug in the SI system. The posts that art showing up as responses to you are my posts wherein I hit the "Post New" button from the message listing. SI must automatically show it as a response to the first post of the thread.

I'm not quite sure it bothers you so much that they are showing posts as responses to your initial post. Does SI wake you up in the middle of the night to announce the post?
