Jock -
you are really full of yourself. In case you didn't know, you can still buy a mainframe for millions of dollars, and you could buy a PDP-8 in 1969 for less than $5000. Your analogy would have been more credible if you had pointed to the demolition of the minicomputer market by PCs at slightly lower price points, than to a completely inappropriate and incorrect comparison with the mainframe market.

If you are trying to claim that mainframes dropped in price to $300 and that's what drove the PC revolution, you are full of crap. Likewise the idea that a PC can out-compute a 60's vintage mainframe is a stupid analogy - like saying that a volkswagen has more pulling power than a team of clydesdales. True but trivial.

This discussion was about supply and demand, not the creation of new markets which incidentally included products which fanciful people like yourself assume are "the same" as products costing a thousand times as much in some current market.

Your analogy is so stupid I can hardly figure out where to begin. I hope you are a better lawyer than you are a debater.

BTW what possible value to this thread to you ascribe to your posts?
