Greenspan's comment is itself an abrogation of capitalism. Just look at what he practices!!!! He raises interest rates when he feels the economy is getting inflationary. Why doesn't he let the economy heal itself as you suggest with a hands off approach to the money supply? I never trust someone who has total control over what he can practice, doesn't employ it, and preaches a completely different religion.
